Why educators should join
the Alliance for Texas History

The Alliance for Texas History was formed by and exists for those who believe that history is about discovery, dialogue, and the pursuit of understanding through evidence, critical analysis, and honest debate. As a student member, you will find yourself welcomed, respected, and engaged in a cohesive professional community of scholars and public historians.

History at every level—from K–12 classrooms to the highest reaches of academia—is under attack by those who would dictate what can be taught, read, and discussed about the past. They seek to narrow the story of Texas to a simple tale of heroes and victories, erasing the complex, often difficult truths that make our shared history meaningful.

Our members—teachers, students, professors, museum professionals, and community historians—work together through the Journal of Texas History, our annual statewide conference, and our public outreach to further the accurate, inclusive study of Texas history.

If you become a new member by April 1, 2026, we will extend your membership for an additional 6 months! You’ll be ready to participate in our annual conference in Fort Worth in May, meet new colleagues, and join our effort to ensure that every Texas story matters.
