• TELL YOUR STORY: Your county will be featured on our website with an “Every Story Counts” page and your “Story Card.” You can add a link to your county’s primary history page or other museums and historical sites. The story of Texas has 254 chapters, and we want to hear all of them.

• SHARE: When you join, we will include your county in an email to our contacts and members sharing “What your county adds to the Texas story” — a 2-3 images, a 75-word narrative, and hyperlinks to local resources.

• ACCESS: As a member, you will have access to our Member Directory which provides tools for you to search for other historians based on their interests and expertise and then email them to connect.

• FUTURE PROJECTS: Be part of a focus group on future projects focused on local histories and historical markers.

• RECOGNITION: Support our annual selection of a historical organization as our “Regional History Spotlight” at our annual conference.

• RESEARCH SUPPORT: Access to our digital publication, the Journal of Texas History, our Texas History News feature, and regular updates on projects and programs.

Institutional memberships for County Historical Associations are based on your chosen level of support and how many individuals you want to represent your organization as members.

If your County Historical Commission becomes an institutional member by April 1, 2026, we will extend your annual membership for an additional 3 months! You’ll be ready to participate in our annual conference in Fort Worth in May, meet new colleagues, and join our effort to ensure that every Texas story matters.
