Regional History Spotlight

In each city where our annual conference is held, the Alliance will choose a local or regional historical organization for special recognition and partnership during the conference. This year, our Regional History Spotlight will be on the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail Association. The Alliance for Texas History is pleased to offer our history partner a $500 grant.

The ElCaT 2025 annual meeting will take place on May 16, 2025, in San Marcos, in conjunction with the Alliance for Texas History conference.

About ElCaT

Established in 2007, the El Camino Real de los Tejas National Historic Trail Association (ElCat) seeks to protect the historic integrity of the trail, to educate and engage the public about its significance, and to promote resource development, interpretation, and tourism along its path.

Originally based in San Marcos at Texas State University, the Association has been housed in Austin since 2011. In addition to a volunteer eleven-member board, the Association employs a full-time executive director, Steven Gonzales, a part-time staff member, and multiple interns.

ElCaT members who wish to attend the Alliance for Texas History conference can register here.
