Frequently Asked Questions

  • It may sound strange, but sometimes historical associations can get stuck in the past, or forget what is important in the careful study of the past. ATxH wants to be a 21st-century historical association and grow with our supporters into the full meaning of that expression.

  • No. Almost all individuals who study and support the cause of Texas history belong to multiple historical associations which promote and advance historical awareness of the state's heritage. The ATxH does not envision itself as an alternative to any currently existing historical organizations but is instead an augmentation to them.

  • Click the Support tab and then Join in the top menu to become a member. With a little extra support beyond regular membership, you will forever be a Charter member of the Alliance for Texas History. As a newly established organization, your active participation will help us achieve the kinds of goals summarized in the What We Do menu tab at the top.

  • There is something special about being on the ground floor of a movement, a chain of events, or the beginnings of an organization. If you support the mission and values of ATxH you have a role to play in what we become.

  • As a new organization there is a lot to be done to help it come to life. Even so, the Alliance has already planned a Symposium for late April 2024. Click the EVENTS tab on the menu to learn more.

  • You know it! Donations to ATxH help us set the foundation in our first year for establishing ourselves as an organization based on scholarship, integrity, and inclusion. The Alliance is a 501(c)(3) organization, and donations are tax-deductibl.

  • The ATxH is planning to hold its first annual conference and to publish a scholarly journal beginning in 2025. Your dues and donations will help to pay for these activities and cover the costs of maintaining the Alliance’s website and membership system, keeping financial records, and providing insurance. Plans are also being made to devote a portion of each donation to an endowment for operations. Of course, exactly how money is spent will be determined by the members themselves, speaking through their elected board members and through member surveys, once a fully-standing board has been chosen.
